carpe carmina celebrates VIII (featuring artists Liberation Of Man & Raikes)

It's said that birthdays come with surprises, and carpe carmina's 2nd anniversary is no exception to that saying. In the course of promoting 'carpe carmina celebrates' two bands reached out to me on twitter and offered to help make the birthday celebration an even more memorable one. Which is why you are in for yet another musical treat: Liberation Of Man decided to perform a new song of theirs called 'New Crown', one that won't be officially released until late 2015,  and Raikes came up with a wonderfully sensitive and alluring acoustic take on a new song of theirs, called 'Fault'. Birthdays are lovely, aren't they?!

Where have Liberation Of Man been when carpe carmina came into being?

Being together as a band for less than a year, Liberation of Man did not shake, nor rouse the indie music world with their fierce and energetic rock sound when carpe carmina came into existence. The band's musical journey, however, has been both followed attentively and promoted in an outspoken manner from the very beginning (the three-piece's debut single 'Come On' was included in a playlist for Radio Kaos Caribou as part of carmina suavia a month after its release on Dec. 15th in 2014, their debut EP 'Burning Bridges' has been reviewed on here). The passionate alt-rock outfit did tease and please an excited audience for a couple of months by sharing recording snippets and live session as well as rehearsal videos solely until they put out a music video for 'My Disease', as featured on their first record, in april, topped off by concluding a successful funding campaign for their musical debut in spring 2015. Early june then has finally seen Liberation Of Man's EP launch at the Harp Restrung in Folkestone, while now marks another important moment in band history for the trio: carpe carmina gives an exclusive insight into one of their yet to be released songs, 'New Crown', and is equally excited as the band members to present it!

What do Liberation of Man have to say about carpe carmina and this milestone?

"Carpe Carmina has always been very supportive towards Liberation Of Man and have always shared our news, tracks, releases etc., and we can’t thank the guys enough. CC’s use of descriptive words really makes the review for us as we feel we’re reading something very, very important and amazing and this is down to the way they write. We trust Carpe Carmina and because of this, the track we’ve recorded on video is our brand new track titled ‘New Crown’ which we haven’t released and won’t be releasing until late 2015. Thank you and happy birthday!"

Where have Raikes been when carpe carmina came into being?

With Raikes we have yet another band involved in carpe carmina's celebration that has not been around when this blog premiered its very first article in june 2013. The romantic alternative folk outfit embarked on its musical journey the year after, yet having found together of late didn't prevent the four musicians from releasing an acoustic-rooted, invitingly anthemic and dreamfully harmonious debut EP - The Quiet - mid 2014 already. Despite their brevity of existence the winsome quartet goes well together as a band, has a maturetender and dulcet charm about their music that is hard to resist, moreover, radiates a vibrant and genuinely welcoming compositional charisma and warmth that allowed them to play headline shows at the Troubadour Club in london, that earned them an invitation from BBC Introducing to record a live session in studio by now. In 2015 Raikes applied themselves to gigging mainly and to get their name out there, covering festivals (the band will perform at Looe Music Festival (Cornwall) in autumn 2015) and more intimate sets alike. carpe carmina sure wishes them all the best, as we prick up our ears for the dynamically ambient and heartfelt music that is yet to come!

What do Raikes have to say about carpe carmina and this milestone?

'Happy Birthday to the most honest, sincere and supportive blog we know. Carpe Carmina is all about the music and that's what really matters. We have received so much support we often feel overwhelmed. Strutting through the music blog quagmire it was lovely to stumble across a beacon of clarity, supporting music of all genres and tastes. Nessi's playlists for RKC are stunning and well worth listening into when aired...a brilliantly eclectic taste!Raikes wish you all the best and thank you whole heartedly for your continued support. Happy Birthday and here's to the next two years!'
