Choices. We all reach the point where we are left with no choice but to take our chances, to trust our guts and move on into the unknown; or to cling to the familiar, embrace the given and hold onto dear life and light.

A defining moment, whose significance we often only see in hindsight, one we later on value as pivotal, predicted even in some sense, bound to (have) happen(ed), some might say. A chosen path, an altered course, a shifted perspective - and we stand tall, delighted, thrilled about new beginnings and cutting loose ends, determined to take decisive action; yet feel torn, tortured, twisted all the same in the face of bygone bliss seemingly within our reach still. It's seldom easy, sometimes meant to be hard, always staggering (beautifully, emotionally likewise) and worth it. Endearingly intimate and hauntingly heavy-hearted, you believe every word David 'Dc' Logan aka Officer sings (and even though they aren't his but those of Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody, it seems as if the narrative turns into a cathartic version of his own, an elegy raised about David's personal truth and tribulation); once delved into its gracefully affectionate and solemly sentimental soundscape, you hold onto every tender tone the artist coaxes out of his acoustic guitar whilst telling a story of dedication and devotion in times of despair. Performed live at an online gig for refugee work (a cause the mindful muso is truly committed to), it's the setting and atmosphere that makes the voice of the london-based songsmith, ranging effortlessly between velvety ethereal and warmly yearning, linger on poignantly pensive, powerfully throughout, and in a soulfully sincere way that is hard to shake; fond and fair melodic memories are made as the story unfolds, a group of strangers, lovers, friends all connected through ardently wishful and rapturously vulnerable music-making at its purest, unaltered and authentic.

Concluding with a Stevie Wonder moment neatly worked into what already is a candid caleidoscope of feelingly spellbinding storytelling and stirringly sonic filigree combined, Officer delivers emphatically and empathically does his duty as a performer well equipped to emotionally capture and charm in the long run.
